Steve Abbey

Steve Abbey is from Detroit, Michigan, and has lived in the Houston area for 35 years. He currently resides in The Woodlands, Texas. An avid butterflyer and birder for over 15 years, Steve has been an active member of the Butterfly Enthusiasts of Southeast Texas (BEST) since 2003, where he served as treasurer for eight years. BEST is the Houston area chapter of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) which was founded in 1992. Steve has also completed the Texas Master Naturalist course and is a member of the Heartwood Chapter in The Woodlands area. He participates in butterfly counts each year throughout the Houston area and he has been on butterflying field trips across the USA and Mexico. Steve also looks forward to participating in the annual Texas Butterfly Festival that takes place in the Lower Rio Grande Valley in early November.
