Entries will be accepted beginning March 1, 2018, for the FeatherFest PhotoFest Contest, held in the weeks leading up to the 16th anniversary of Galveston’s annual spring birding and nature photography festival which is April 19-22, 2018.
Individuals are invited to submit images of wild birds, not captive, taken in Galveston, Brazoria, Harris, Fort Bend, Jefferson or Chambers counties. The photos must be taken within the two years prior to April 1, 2018. Entries for Week One of the contest are due Sunday, March 11.
There are some very specific format needs for winning photos to be published. Photos must be in JPEG format at 300 dpi, not larger than 6MB, and at least 1800 pixels by 1800 pixels to be considered for the FeatherFest PhotoFest Contest. To ensure the highest quality of the image, the size should not be reduced.
The photo contest runs from March 11 through April 1. To see the winners, click here.
First-, second- and third-place winning photos from four weekly contests will be published in The Daily News and on the FeatherFest website in March and April.
Photographers and birders alike participate in a wide selection of field trips and workshops led by professional photography instructors as part of the PhotoFest, with all activities targeting a specific skill level, from beginner to intermediate to advanced.
Hunt’s Photo & Video, official sponsor of the 2018 photography track, will have its latest cameras, lens and accessories at Hawkers’ Hall, the free public trade show open throughout the festival. Representatives from several manufacturers will be on hand to demonstrate their products.
