Wyatt Egelhoff

Wyatt is a Conservation Specialist for Houston Audubon who works primarily in the High Island and Bolivar Peninsula Sanctuaries. This gives him the opportunity to experience and study birds in one of the most species-rich areas of the United States.Raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Wyatt grew up birding throughout the Land of Enchantment, and adjacent Texas and Arizona. Prior to Houston Audubon, Wyatt found work studying Arctic-breeding shorebirds in Alaska and Chukotka, as well as grassland birds in the Southern Great Plains. He holds an undergraduate degree in Wildlife Ecology from New Mexico State University.

We offer this trip to those who would like a slower paced trip to Houston Audubon’s two world famous sanctuaries, Smith Oaks, and Boy Scout Woods. Although this is still a mostly walking trip, we will allow  time to stand and/or sit to observe the splendor that is High Island birding. We schedule this trip for late afternoon to catch any lingering migrants and catch afternoon arrivals who have spent 10+ hours flying nonstop across the Gulf of Mexico. From…
