Tracey Prothro

Tracey Prothro is the Assistant Director of Baytown Parks and Recreation, but is also still serving as the Superintendent of Natural Resource Programs for the City of Baytown.  Her dual role gives her supervisory responsibilities to Baytown’s Aquatics, Parks Maintenance, Parks Planning and Recreation Divisions of Parks and Recreation, but she says her heart still lies with the Natural Resource Program Division, where she began her time in Baytown twenty years ago. The Natural Resource Division includes both the Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Education Center and the Baytown Nature Center.

Tracey graduated from Texas A&M University at Galveston with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ocean and Coastal Resources.  She previously worked for Enron Corp. in the pipeline group before taking time off from work to raise her two daughters, who are now grown and both employed in wildlife/sustainability careers.

Tracey is a certified Texas Master Naturalist, a Texas Parks & Wildlife Angler Education Area Chief, and former President of the Board for Texas Trails Network and Vice President of Programs for the Goose Creek ISD Education Foundation. She enjoys playing golf, hiking, and kayaking, but her passion is birding! She looks forward to annual trips to Costa Rica where she loves seeing all of the beautiful birds and traveling with her daughters on nature adventures.
