📷Historic Architectural Photography:
St. Joseph’s Church with Kathy Adams Clark

Thursday, April 24, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$70

This historic location gives us a lovely location to learn and practice architectural, low-light, and abstract photography. The class will begin inside the church for a chance to photograph in low-light. Then we’ll move outside as we photograph the church from sunset to twilight. We’ll work with the church’s lighting plus special lights inside.

Bring your camera with a wide-angle lens and and perhaps a closer focusing lens for architectural details and minute abstracts. A tripod and cable release are advised as we will see some very long exposures. A flash or LED light panel can be helpful but not mandatory. Kathy will have some LEDs for people to borrow.

1859 St. Joseph’s Church: St. Joseph’s Church is the oldest German Catholic Church in Texas and the oldest wooden church building in Galveston. It was built by German immigrants in 1859. Now de-sanctified and managed by Galveston Historical Foundation, the gothic revival church is distinguished by its elaborately detailed coffered wooden ceiling, delicately painted wooden sanctuary, original pews and hand-carved altars. GHF preserves the building as a museum and makes it available as an event venue.

Driving directions to this field trip will be sent prior to the festival.
