This trip ventures outside of FeatherFest Headquarters to the birdiest areas of the 240-acre Moody Gardens complex showcasing a diverse array of habitat and species variety. With an eBird hotspot listing of over 280 species, there are always birds to see no matter the time of year.
Adjacent to the property sits Offats Bayou which provides looks at natives as well as late wintering and early migrating shorebirds, herons, egrets, grebes, and rails. We will encounter many oak mottes along the way that act as great temporary stopping points for migrating birds such as warblers, buntings, tanagers, flycatchers and much more.
The total length of this accessible trail is .75 miles and paved the entire way. There is one section of elevation increase of 6 feet over the span of 150 feet of paved trail, the decrease of this elevation change is 8 feet over 75 feet of paved trail. There are no steps, gates or obstacles. Access features include a few benches and ample shade. ADA restrooms are available in the Moody Gardens Hotel, Convention Center, and the Visitors Center.
There is designated disabled parking in the parking garage adjacent to the Moody Gardens Convention Center.
