Birders look off Seawall Blvd during a birding by e-bike field trip. Pam LeBlanc photo.

Enjoy zipping along on a quiet and easy electric bike that allows you to get up close and personal with the resident and migratory birds species seen at this time of year. This nearly effortless ride allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of our wetlands and beaches. The ride begins on the east side of downtown at Zipp E Bikes and takes you south to the Seawall. From here we continue past large lagoons and down Boddeker Road to East Beach, passing marshes, shoreline, and the entrance to Galveston Bay. Traveling by this method will allow you to stop and explore the various species of birds along the way, including herons, egrets, gulls, terns, waders, seabirds, and passerines. An occasional raptor sailing above you can cap off this unique experience.  Returning to the bike shop is equally as relaxing…. whether you pedal or glide on your electric bike!

The Zipp E Bikes staff will show you how easy it is to use one of the bikes with quick step by step lessons and make sure you are comfortable and safe before you set out on your journey. Be sure to bring your binoculars and/or spotting scope, the bikes have baskets to carry personal items. This FeatherFest field trip is a truly unique experience for bird enthusiasts, skilled and novice alike. You also contribute to reducing your environmental impact!

This is a meet-at-site trip. Driving directions will be emailed prior to the trip.

Bring: water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray
