Caroline Carey

Caroline has been birding the Upper Texas Coast for close to 30 years. Her interest in birds began early in life while hiking and camping with her family on the west coast. She has co-led field trips to many areas of Texas and participated several times in the Greater Texas Birding Classic. She and her husband also spend time birding the provinces of Canada. Caroline has been a volunteer for FeatherFest for the last several years. In learning the history of the Island, its people and their dedication to protecting and improving the habitat, has made her appreciate more why Galveston is such a world class area for birding.

Join us for a trip to one of the largest migrant traps on the East end of Galveston Island. The Texas A&M Wetlands Center hosts mature oaks, hackberry, and mulberry trees as well as small freshwater and retention ponds. This attracts dozens of neo-tropic migrants including warblers, buntings, tanagers, and orioles.
